  • I absolutely love nextgen-gallery, but there’s one new feature I’d like to see:
it would be great if it would be possible to upload images which are already stored on the server into the gallery without downloading and uploading them again.
i have a number of photos in a directory on my server, and to load individual ones into nextgen-gallery i have to download them onto my computer and then upload them to wordpress again…

    keep up the good work!

  • Couldn’t you simply user Terminal (mac users) to log into your server and use linux commands to move a folder full of images into another folder in the wordpress/next gen directory?

If NextGen adopted something like this, you’d most likely have to have some sort of login feature to connect to your server, so that you can browse the directory. I’m not sure what kind of security issues that would create.

I think what you want is already in NGG. On the “Add Gallery / Images” Page, select the “Import image folder” tab. Input the server path to your photos and you’re set! It will create a new gallery for you pointing to the photos where they are on the server already. The gallery name will be that of the folder containing the photos (you can change it afterward from the gallery editing page).
