[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] exclude images only from widget

  • Hi there! I am using the great NextGEN Gallery plugin for my band’s website http://www.daybroke.com. However, I have a question.

    Would it be possible to mark some images for exclusion in the NextGEN Widget (set to ‘random’) only? I want to exclude them from the widget only, the normal gallery view shouldn’t exclude the marked pictures.

    I’ll explain why. We have some galleries containing pictures of ex band members. It is okay for them to appear in the galleries, but I don’t want them to appear randomly at the front page, when the visitor doesn’t have clue which gallery a picture is from (that’s another question actually, would it be possible to add the gallery title to a random pic’s title?).

    Thanks in advance!

  • I’m in a similar boat. I’ve got a gallery of images for my background of the header. But also a random gallery on the sidebar that I need the images removed from.

    I’m thinking a tag is the way to go…but can’t find anything on this. In plain english, it would be:

    play this random gallery, but exclude all images tagged with “exclude”.

    thanks,
    cj

    AH! Think I got it. Wow, someone really needs to write up a solid NextGen instructional site. Yes, there’s some basic into’s out there, but nothing that really lays out the most common tasks. (I love NextGen!)

    Here’s an answer:

    For my site, I use this in my sidebar:
    <?php if (function_exists(“nggDisplayRandomImages”))
    { nggDisplayRandomImages(12,100,75,’denied’,’8′); } ?>

    For me, my header images are all in gallery 8. So I tell this function:
    display 12 random images, sized at 100×75 pixels; but exclude gallery 8.
