Support » Fixing WordPress » [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Create Thumbnails Hangs at 0% and does not complete

  • I created a Gallery, then tried to upload a single photo and multiple photos to the Gallery. Once the flash uploader completes, the create thumbnails process hangs. It does not complete. Therefore, I cannot add photos for a Gallery at the moment. I have to use the tool bar feature to upload my photos, then insert them one at a time.

The tool bar option for me, has a bug, that when trying to add photos as a “gallery” to a post, the size of the photos are very large and break my template.

I believe when a user adds a gallery from the toolbar, it should be forced to use thumbnails and no other size images.

Also, I don’t understand why if I upload images using the tool bar uploader, and not the admin uploader, that I cannot give that gallery an name or ID number? That is a major issue. It is not consistent to have the tool bar Gallery uploader work independently of the admin Gallery uploader. They do not work in tandem. Please let me know if I’m doing something wrong here, because it seems as if this plug-in, although really, really cool…is not yet fully developed.

  • Hi Tonyzeoli. Had the same problem with the 0% status. Do you use the new WordPress plugin upgrade feature?

I just uploaded the newest Gallery version, although WordPress showed it was “officially” installed, and now everything works.

I gues wordpress has a problem with the upgrade feature when it comes to bigger plugins like Gallery.

I will try to upload the latest gallery version via FTP instead of the upgrade feature. I believe I tried to do that once already and it did not solve my issue, but it could be a caching problem. Will try again and update this post to let everyone know of my progress.

And also try to reduce the resolution of your images…

Okay, will try to reduce the resolution of my images to see if that works. Thanks.

I have the same problem. Unfortunately it didn’t help to upload the new version manually. Thanks in advance for any other ideas …

I had a plugin that caused ngg not to to do the uploading properly (never got over 0%!).

I don’t know which plugin was the torublemaker but deactivating and activating the plugins step by step worked for me.

If you upload the pics via ftp and also add an empty “thumbs”-folder in the same directory, ngg is usually able to rescan the folder and then creates everything you need.
