# [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Cannot Add Gallery error

 * Hi, got everything working on a local server no probs… loaded onto live server
   and now cannot Add Gallery. SAFE-MODE is on and cannot change this. I have manually
   added a gallery directory with permissions 777, so now when I Add Gallery I get…
 * _Unable to create directory wp-content/gallery/old-photos!
    Directory wp-content/
   gallery/old-photos is not writeable ! Unable to create directory wp-content/gallery/
   old-photos/thumbs !
 * I then created these corresponding directories and tried again only to get an
   error saying it still could not create the directories (probally because they
   already existed).
 * No new gallery is added to the list in NextGEN in either case.
 * After checking the ownership I find that the gallery directory is owned by www-
   data in group www-data. Is this correct? if not what should the owner and group
   be?
 * Surely this should not be this tricky!!! At the moment I cannot use the NextGEN
   Gallery at all because I have no pictures!
 * Please point me in the right direction for solving this problem.

 * Ok, I solved this by finding a way to turn SAFE-MODE off.
 * Not the best solution, but it works now.
