[resolved] [Plugin: NextGEN Facebook] conflict with Facebook for WordPress (3 posts)

    The Facebook graph debugger complained that there were multiple og:url values. I determine it to be a conflict between this plug and Facebook for WordPress.

    The main issue I was trying to solve was adding photos for posts on FB. I use NextGEN for the primary photo and gallery at the bottom of the post, and FB was not recognizing the photos.

    I was able to comment out some lines in the module to eliminate the duplicate og tags but now when posting on FB there are 28 thumbnails to choose from... e.g. http://blog.octanenation.com/news/aston-martin-chooses-2012-salon-prive-to-display-exclusive-models/

    I'm new to WP and commenting out lines in the plugin doesn't seem too robust, and it's still not working as expected. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

    Well, looking at the source from your page, it looks like you commented ALL the NextGEN Facebook meta tags, so when you share the page, Facebook will propose all the images it finds on the page (since there's no og:image tag).

    PHP is a little odd as a language, PHP files are basically HTML with PHP code in it, so some parts, like the og:url line in nextgen-facebook.php is actually HTML, not PHP. You could change it from:

    <meta property="og:url" content="http://<?php echo $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] . $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] ?>" />

    <!-- <meta property="og:url" content="http://<?php echo $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] . $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] ?>" /> -->

    Or even just delete that line.

    But even better, I think I'll include some options to turn on/off each individual OG tag in the next version...

    If you want to install the development version (download it from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/nextgen-facebook.zip), it has some new features to turn off/on each Open Graph HTML meta tag. Alternatively you could wait for me to release it sometime next week.
