Email identifier: EMAIL
If you’re using the name identifier (iow storing it @ mailchimp) it’s NAME, or FNAME for just the front name.
What’s interesting to me is what browser are you using? Must be a little bug if the email identifier wasn’t filled in for you.
Thanks
I realise that maybe it is auto-filled – it’s just that the field value is not showing (the Email Identifier field is shaded grey, is empty but you can’t manually enter EMAIL into it..)
I’m using Firefox 3.6
However, the plugin doesn’t seem to be working. I’ve tested by leaving a comment with a new email address but I don’t get anything through to confirm the newsletter subscription…
Hi Neil,
Hm, sounds like a weird JavaScript issue not filling in ‘EMAIL’. I’ve got emails from others having the same issue. I’ll look into this asap. Can’t seem to recreate the problem.
Please be patient while I work on a fix. 🙂
Hi Neil,
Try the new version (1.1). Removed almost all JavaScript and added support for the MailChimp API which makes everything a lot easier, and faster. 🙂
Let me know how that worked for you.

Thanks Danny
I re-installed the plugin but when I tried to activate it I got this error message:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home/content/26/6061826/html/wp-content/plugins/newsletter-sign-up/php/frontend.php on line 11
Hi Neil,
Please update to v1.3.1. It’s because older versions of PHP (< 5.3) do not support anonymous functions. I’ve removed the usage of this in v1.3.1 so the issue should be fixed if you upgrade.
Let me know how that worked for you.

I was using the latest version of the plugin. (installed it today). ..still getting the error message
Neil, are you sure? I updated the plugin after your post. Please check if you’re using v1.3.1..
Just got the update notice through my WP admin panel. I’m guessing you’ve made two recent updates then? I installed 17 hours ago and got the error message when I tried to activate but have just updated the plug in about 20 minutes ago – now everything is working great.
Thanks
