One way of hiding inline citations: use css style property ‘display:none’ for a given html div tag, i.e.

    <div style="display:none">[nbcite refID="yy" refName="xxxx"]</div>

This is standard use of html tags and css, so it should work.

Another way of doing this is by using the future option ‘Hide Inline Citation’ in Bibliography Metabox – its not yet implemented, but when it is, you can switch to this option without any problems.

Do you want to hide all citations made in a given post or just a few of them?

I just uploaded v2.04 which has the promised option ‘Hide Inline Citation’ and the rest is done by the plugin. Note that you should rather use this option now, because no cross references will be generated for hidden citations, i.e. you won’t find a ^ after the citation in the table of bibliography.

Excellent. Thanks for adding that feature. The improvements you’ve put into the plugin recently are really great.
