 * I have found articles about using plugins to extend the wpdatabase and articles
   about how to access the wpdb with plugins. I need a plugin to access data from
   a database and I am wondering if I should create an entirely new database or 
   simply extend the wpdb. Specifically I am making a website for a school and I
   want a plugin to display the courses being currently offered by a specific department.
