[Resolved] [Plugin: Modal Dialog] cookie set to manual but still modal still showing site wide.

  • Hello there yannick,
    What a great plugin by the way.
    I installed it this morning and it has been working fine, untill now!!!!
    I added a paypal plugin and it seems to have screwed with everything!!!
    ummm let me explain:
    I’m using the following code which is inputted into the header file of a specific page via CSS & JavaScript Toolbox basically I followed this:

    function openDialog() {

    I have set the “Set display cookies manually” options to on, but it still shows up on every page.
    I’ve tried removing all plugin apart from the modal,
    I’ve removed the code from “CSS & JavaScript Toolbox ”
    and still no luck, The modal still shows up site wide.
    this really has got me flummoxed i’d love it if you have an answer or maybe point me in the write direction.
    kind regards

    Hi Chris,

    You should have read the FAQ:

    = How can I manually set the cookie if I ask Modal Dialog to let me do it manually?

    Call the following javascript / jQuery function, setting the cookie-name to match the name entered in the Modal Dialog settings, the cookievalue and the duration to any duration that you deem acceptable.

    jQuery.cookie(‘cookie-name’, cookievalue, { expires: 365 });

    You should be calling this javascript function when the user presses the I accept button.

    I did read the manual i’m sorry for posting the wrong code i was trying various options:

    <script type="text/javascript">
    function openDialog() {

    this was the code i was using to insert the cookie manually into a specific link, but the modal still appears site wide.
    even with the set cookies manually option checked the modal still appears site wide……

    The code that you just posted takes care of opening the dialog. You need a call to jQuery.cookie on close to set the cookie. I am not seeing any calls to jQuery.cookie on your site.

    and heres the onlick div i’m using:
    <div onclick="openDialog()" ></div>
    it should be a applied to the apply now toggle at the bottom of the content here:

    As i say this was working fine all of yesterday morning!
    sorry to pester you and thank you for the help.

    got it thank you:D:D:D:D:D

    You where right i should have read the manual i had seen that thread just not read it throughly enough….
    thank you Yannick and good luck with the book, if you ship to europe i’ll buy one.

    kind regards
