[Plugin: Mingle Forum] Subscription and admin email notifications not working

I have a new site where I installed the Mingle forum for the first time a week ago. Between then and now I have made WP theme and Mingle skin modifications but I don’t believe I have ever seen email notifications (admin or subscriptions) work from the forum. Notifications for new user registration and new comments work fine for the WP part of the site, but nothing I try will get emails from the forum.

My current configuration is WP 3.4.1, Andrea theme 0.4-wpcom, Mingle 1.0.33.2 and Universal Style Dark 1.3.1 Mingle skin. I have checked and re-checked settings, turn things on and off and switched between different skins, including the default.

I’m out of ideas and nothing I’ve found in the Support forum sounded like this problem. Anyone have any suggestions of what I should do next? I was thinking that I’d like to “reload” the Mingle base code for my forum to ensure that it’s completely current but I don’t want to delete the current content of my forums.
