    @eagerterrier

    Good point @cobalt – I’ll work on this next week

    Should have something for you by the end of the month – hang tight…

    Please feel free to send me a link to a beta version for testing.

    @cobalt

    Think I have this working. Would you mind giving this a whirl?

    http://www.eagerterrier.co.uk/mime_type_link_images.php.zip

    Unzip it and stick it in place of your current mime_type_link_images.php file in wp-content/plugins/mimetypes-link-icons/

    1.06 (the linked version in this thread) + 1.07 do not work.

    I’ve downloaded 1.08 and that is not working for this topic either.

    Sorry for not checking earlier. I will be on top of it now.

    To test you should be able to simply put the link as
    http://xyz.com/file.pdf#page=4
    and see if a icon appears next to it?

    Also, what about mailto, ftp, (custom) links? That would be a nice thing to have covered in the same plugin, although there are a couple out there already.

    @cobalt – apologies – I had tested the replacement functionality, but not the initial search. It is now done for you in version 1.0.9

    hmmmm… 1.09 doesn’t work at all now?
    all href’s are “square box”
    .doc
    .pdf
    .jpg
    .pdf#pagenumber
    None of these have valid links anymore?!?
    The image replacement for .pdf#pagenumber still doesn’t work under 1.09

    This is installed on a clean install of wp3.2 and 2011 theme.

    There are further problems on my production site. I can’t run this plugin at all on the production site yet. First I need to get this “basic” stuff working then I’ll debug it on the real site.

    @eagerterrier

    working for me…

    http://www.emmacox.org.uk/simon-cowell/117/

    and on others. I’ve made a slight change which may have affected your version and updated to 1.1.0, which you can get from here – http://www.eagerterrier.co.uk/mime_type_link_images.php.zip

    Then stick it in wp-content/plugins/mimetypes-link-icons/

    thanks

    @eagerterrier

    Think I can see where it went wrong – In certain scenarios the display CSS variable was getting set after the call to display CSS…

    try this link.
    http://www.katscreative.com/

    There should be 4 icons
    1 jpg
    1 doc
    2 pdf’s one direct, one with the #pagenumber
    The one with the #pagenumber still doesn’t work.

    none of the links work, inspect with firebug and you will see that all the href’s are replaced with “garbagecharacter”

    WP3.2, and version 1.10 Mime Type Link Images
    This will add file type icons next to links automatically

    One more note.

    The 2nd pdf (file.pdf#pagenumber) which doesn’t have an icon replacement done by your plugin…

    The link to the file works properly.

    Plugin Author eagerterrier

    @eagerterrier

    ok – it looks like it’s nothing to do with the CSS but with the replace pattern.

    I’ve done you a version here, which might help.

    take this file –

    http://www.eagerterrier.co.uk/@cobalt.zip

    unzip it. Replace your current

    /wp-content/plugins/mimetypes-link-icons/mime_type_link_images.php file with the one in this folder

    Let me know how you get on…

    If this doesn’t work I’m going to need the following two things:

    1. The HTML of your post with the plugin turned off, so I can mimic the page as best I can.

    2. Details of what server you are running – versions of PHP etc

    Plugin Author eagerterrier

    @eagerterrier

    also, just tried the only working link on that page and it works on my version here:

    http://www.emmacox.org.uk/simon-cowell/117/

    OK I downloaded that file also labeled with version 1.1.0.
    replaced the file on the server…
    same thing.
    href’s are invalid, exactly the same problem.
    No icon replacement for .pdf#pagenumber

    I don’t get it.

    WP3.2RC2 (or wp3.1.3, doesn’t matter)
    the one plugin, NOTHING ELSE.

    Plugin Author eagerterrier

    @eagerterrier

    also labeled with version 1.1.0.

    …yeah – I just changed the code, not version numbers…

    I don’t get it.

    I don’t understand why this would be either. I’m on the same settings as you, so it really is odd. Can you send me:

    1. The HTML of your post with the plugin turned off, so I can mimic the page as best I can.

    2. Details of what server you are running – versions of PHP etc
