I updated to the latest version, (I was using 1.73 before) and now my Gravity Forms doesn’t work correctly. When trying to fill out a form, the submit button doesn’t do anything when clicked. Inspecting it, it looks like the submit button has been moved outside of the <form></form>, which is why it’s not working. When I disable the Ultimate FAQs plugin, the submit button goes back inside the <form></form> where it belongs.

  • Hi @mrfent37,

Our plugin has not been tested with the Gravity Forms builder.
Are you able to use the normal editor and see if the plugin works as it should? Have you considered using the Gutenberg blocks instead of the shortcodes?

I’m not talking about the editor/builder. I’m talking about an already completed form that is live on a page.

    Hi @mrfent37,

It sounds like something is causing an escape in the html, perhaps due to a FAQ.
Could you verify your FAQs, in the back end, to see if there are any characters that could cause such thing? For example, slashes (/ or \) or quotes ( or ).

Are you able to a provide a URL to your site? Perhaps we could help find the very line it breaks out

The form and FAQs are here:

    https://www.culturedfoodlife.com/contact/

Select either “Account…”, “Store…”, or “Class…” to see the FAQs.

    Thanks for your help!

The submit button is currently working because I reverted back to a previous version of FAQs plugin

    Hi Mr. Fent,

It’ll be hard to test without seeing the error in action. It’s hard for us to predict when we’ll be able to answer specific support questions, so, perhaps we could set up a specific time for us to check your site, at which point you could upgrade back to the newest version and we can inspect it. That way you wouldn’t have to have the broken submit button up for an extended period of time. If that’s something you’d want us to do, please send us an email at contact@etoilewebdesign.com, so we can set this up.

I finally had some time to set this up on a test site, showing the error.

    https://staging.culturedfoodlife.com/contact/

I created a simple FAQ with “question” as the title” and “answer” as the body. This FAQ is assigned to a “test” category, and in my gravity form, I have an HTML block with the shortcode: [ultimate-faqs include_category=”test”]

You’ll be able to see that with the ultimate-faq shortcode, the submit button for the form gets repositioned outside of the <form></form>

    Hi mrfent37,

If you temporarily remove that HTML block with the shortcode from the gravity form, does the Search button still remain outside of the <form> tags?

    Thread Starter MrFent37

    (@mrfent37)

Yes, it works correctly when I remove the HTML block.

    Any help with this?

    Hi MrFent,

We’ve never tested our shortcode in a gravity form. I’m not sure if gravity forms are even meant to take shortcodes in them. If it doesn’t work within a gravity form, I’m not too sure what we can do. The FAQs are designed to be placed on a page by themselves.

This worked just fine for years until that update.

    Hi mrfent37,

Unfortunately, we are not able to do extensive testing with pay only plugins (which Gravity forms seems to be). With that in mind, it would be difficult to know which end the conflict is on.

The only thing we can think to suggest here would be to rollback to v1.7.3, then update to the next version (1.8.0) and test. If that works, then update to v1.8.1 and so on…
