Plugin messes up core wordpress features and will ruin your content

After a recent update removed some of the core functionality of my rather generic WordPress install, like making certain features like categories and tags disappear and be integrated in with an entirely different section of the page administration, I had to disable Yoast to get my site working again, and when I did, lots of content disappeared or was different. This plugin continues to become more and more bloated, and like a lethal parasite, begins to wrap its tendrils around and inside of CORE wordpress systems to the extent that if you want to try something else, you risk breaking your web site. I will no longer recommend this plugin to any of my clients who don’t want web site features held hostage by a third-party plugin.
