[Plugin: Members] Featured Image Upload Stuck At Crunching

I’ve configured WordPress to allow a custom user (created by Justin Tadlock’s Members Plugin) to upload via the Media area on the backend by giving them the ‘upload_files’ capability. However, when I try to start an upload as that created role/user(in WP 3.3), the upload freezes at the ‘crunching’ step. When I check the Library, the file has been added to the site, but the ‘crunching’ step never proceeds to the image details screen…

Any thoughts on what’s wrong? It doesn’t seem like a file permissions or a PHP memory issue to me. Using the featured image feature of wordpress is very important to the site that I’m building. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Note that everything work perfectly as an administrator.

ok, I got it working by checking the box for “edit_posts.” However now, my created role can see the “posts” in the dashboard. Any suggestions. Here’s my code below that I use to create my custom content.
