[Plugin: Media Tools] What changes?

  • You say:

“Big improvements are coming to the WordPress media library in 3.5.”

    Can you explain?

Currently I keep all my images in annual directories (e.g., images2005, images2006, etc.) which seems like a fairly simple and easy way to do things. I use “img src” HTML. Why would I want to witch to “media library”. I’m open minded about this but don’t want to bother switching unless there is a compelling reason so I would like to hear what you know about coming down the pike and why it is better than just doing it by hand.

Using the media library will crop the images for you based on your settings. Allow you to upload the images directly to the post and insert with a description or caption and title attributes.

The upload and insert workflow has always been kind of cumbersome but the focus on the 3.5 release cycle is to improve upon it. Current work is being done on the user interface, better image editing options, and a more efficient workflow.
