Hey there, Sam!
Using the API key listed in the account, I was able to get the plugin up an running on our test WordPress account, here:
http://cl.ly/2s0N3n230o3U0p1C0T3H
I know that over the weekend, one of our datacenters was down over the weekend, which caused some weirdness with the API in some cases. Are you able to get everything working today? Let us know if you do continue to see any issues, we’re happy to help!
Cheers
Hi mc_nate,
Thank you for your reply.
Actually, it’s not for my account, it’s for my client dentoncleaning. Let me know if that still works.
Thanks,
Sam
Hey again, Sam!
With one of the active API keys, we were indeed able to get things up and running in the test account:

If you do continue to see issues with the connection, another issue that we’ve seen is that the host won’t allow outbound calls for some reason. In that case, because the call isn’t permitted, it can’t be answered and so we won’t be able to verify the API key. If that is the case, you’ll need to talk to the host, unfortunately, to figure out exactly why those calls are being killed off.
Let us know if we can help with anything else!
Cheers
Hi mc_nate,
Thanks for the reply!
Well, it looks like it’s getting a reply from the server “The server said:Invalid Mailchimp API Key (631):” and the API code is being correctly reported back which indicates that the server received it.
Is it possible that the IP address of the server is blocked on Mailchimp’s side since client is hosted on a shared server with GoDaddy.
If not, what ports should I ask GoDaddy to check?
Thanks,
Sam
Hi mc_nate,
Contacted host and they’re asking for more info:
Thank you for your reply. In order for us to properly advise on this matter, please advise specifically what this plugin needs to function. We thank you in advance for clarification, and we look forward to assisting you further.
Please let us know if we can help you in any other way.
Let me know specifically what functionality needs to be enabled.
Thanks,
Sam
Hey again, Sam!
Sorry it took a minute to get back to you. I checked with the devs to see if we could get some more information about what they’ll need, but it shouldn’t be anything out of the ordinary.
Out of curiosity, have you tried to clear your browsers cookies and cache or tried a different browser/network?
If that’s not possible, could you provide us with the domain that you’re using the plugin with? Additionally, we’d also like to see if we can get your IP address and a screenshot of the error code that you’re seeing, if possible?
Give us a shout back and we’ll see what we can do on our end.
Thanks again for your patience!
Cheers

Yes, I have.

I believe that’s all the info you asked for.
Thanks for looking into to this,
Sam
Hey again, Sam.
This is quite odd. We haven’t been able to replicate the same behavior on our end of things. We even asked out developers to make sure that there wasn’t anything crazy going on in the back end of things. However, the word is that everything is functioning correctly.
We even saw where the account was able to make successful calls on 12/20/11 from the same account (albeit a different IP address).
We’ll keep digging, but you may just need to confirm with your host that they’re allowing the calls to be placed, correctly.
Let us know if we can assist any further!
Cheers
Oh! So as not to leave you high and dry, you could use MailChimp’s embedded form as a workaround:
