# Plugin lost since php version 8.0

 * Dear friends of mailpoet,
 * today my server provider pleased me to switch the php version from 7.4 to 8.0
   or higher. Since I did this (8.0 oder 8.1), the mailpoet plugin is not functioning
   nor it can be installed again, as this label apears: “the target folder already
   exists”. What can I do? Please, I need help. I am a very hard beginner in wordpress.

 * I already tried to switch back the php version to 7.4, but it still doesn’t work.
   The plugin is not listed and a “new installation has failed, as the target folder
   already exists”…

 * Usually when we see this happen, it means that during some other server function,
   the MailPoet plugin files were either deleted or corrupted.
 * The good news is that this is a quick fix with no serious issues. You will need
   to delete the MailPoet plugin folder using FTP or like a hosting file manager
   or something similar. Your host might be able to help with this.
 * Once that’s done, you can reinstall it like you already tried to do. Then it 
   should just work 🙂

 * Your subscribers’ data is stored in your site’s database. If the data is still
   there, you will see it in MailPoet > Subscribers as soon as you reinstall the
   plugin.
