Support » Plugin: Limit Login Attempts » Plugin locking my own IP out!

  • brendanncf

I recently installed the ‘limit login attempts’ plugin to protect my site.

However, when I tried to first log in to wp-admin today, I was greeted by a message saying “ERROR: Too many failed login attempts. Please try again in 22 hours.”

I don’t understand why this would happen. This was my FIRST login attempt of the day, and I wasn’t even able to enter in my username and password at all, let alone correctly.

Why is this plugin thinking there were attempted logins from my own IP, and locking my out before I even try to actually log in?

    Thank you,

I am having the same problem. I have several ip address locked out but my own is not listed yet I cannot log back in.

I am convince there is a bug. I now have to wait 48 hours!

    What is the work around?

I used this in my sql database which helped allow me to log in again.

    UPDATE wp_options SET option_value = ” WHERE option_name = ‘limit_login_lockouts’

I have over 500 lock outs! Someone is surely trying to get in.
