[Plugin: List Tags] Where, exactly, do I put this code?

    I see in the Installation instructions I am supposed to insert the following code into my Template File: <?php list_tags(); ?>
    I have a dumb question: where is my template file? I see to be able to access the files for my site through FTP or WebFTP. I’m not really seeing anything that is clearly a template file. I can access the folder with my theme, and in their the index.php file, but inserting the code into a (random) line of that file doesn’t seem to do it. I’d really appreciate if someone could send me to some clear, step by step instructions.

    (This pertains to the installation instructions for list-tags, a plug in to allow you to display tags in a list format.)

    I found a file template.php, and then didn’t know where to put the code. Put it on the first line and wasn’t sure where to go from there.
