A minor tweak to the existing functionality and could greatly enhance the use of links for say, a reference library or just giving more contact information such as phone number etc.

Or would you consider that as a different function or plugin?

I am going to attempt to hook one onto my existing link fields for now. just getting started on the project and searching for the best solution, if there was already one done, but cannot find one, but I found your plugin and thought i might make that suggestion.

if you are interested, i will come back to discuss my efforts here. Otherwise I will start a thread elsewhere

  • This plugin consists of only one line of code (!), which enables the old Links feature.
IMO, no extra functionality will be added here…

Just in case, what hooks are you attempting? I do have one plugin that injects a meta box in the link editor screen, which in turn “manipulates” one of the link fields (Advanced > Image Address) that may be useful in your efforts.

Yeah! I’m interested! Was planning to dev one myself. Would love to collaborate!

Sorry for the delay in answering. I did not have the time to develop a new plugin for this project after all and ended up using a custom post type to get the job done. perhaps in the future I will revisit it because I would think that a directory with descriptions for the native links would be a useful tool, but for now its on the back burner.
