Support » Plugins » Plugin: JWPlayer not working on iOS devices?

Oi! I’m at my wits end. I can’t seem to find an answer anywhere.

I am running WordPress on an Apache server 2.2.15 .
I have a blog that I spun up and downloaded the JWPlayer plugin on it.
Now, it plays videos just fine via Mac or PC: http://blogs.bzaeds.org/test/2012/04/16/another-video-test/
    I have no issues.

However, if I attempt to play the videos on an iPad or iPhone (iOS) I have trouble. The first two videos on that site play via YouTube or QuickTime and they work fine. However, if I try to stream them directly from the blog rather than YouTube or QuickTime, like in the THIRD ONE I posted on there, I get the following error; “The video could not be loaded, either because the network failed or because the format is not supported.”

Does anyone have any ideas how I can get it to stream directly from the blog like on a PC or Mac?

  • I am noticing that if I use a video that is hosted locally (aka uploaded via the WordPress player) that it doesn’t work. However, if it’s something that’s on another site … it works fine.

    Any ideas?

the format of your video must compatible with the player. You must convert the video format whatever compatible to jw player. (Try convert it to .flv or .mp4)

Ah, sorry. I forgot to post the solution here; I created a blog post on the issue and how to fix it. It essentially stems from the fact of how Multi-Site WordPress handles byte range support and needed to use an apache module to deal with this shortcoming.
