Hi Baden, Firstly thank you so much for a terrific and thoughtful plugin. VERY impressed with it and with the support you offer!!

I’ve been through the support forum and found some similar things but not this precise issue. Please forgive the fact I’m a coding novice(trying to learn, but oh my! Such a steep learning curve!).

I love the Fast Monkey roll-your-own example:

<div id="target-monkey1" class="collapseomatic_content">You might think you can catch a monkey, but you can't. Monkeys are FAST!</div>
     <span class="collapseomatic" title="Fast Monkey" id="monkey1" >Fast Monkey</span>
     <span id="swap-monkey1" style="display: none;">Eek Eek</span>

…because it swaps the trigger title (“Read more” becomes “Read less”) AND it moves the trigger position from above the hidden text when collapsed, to below it when expanded.

BRILLIANT! I’m using it right here at the moment. There’s just ONE drawback… I want the trigger to appear in the same line as the preceding text, but this code makes the trigger appear in a new paragraph. I cannot for the life of me work out how to remove the space. What I want is for it to appear in the same position as the trigger does when I use this [expand] shortcode:

    normal text dum de dum[expand title="Read more »" id="post001" trigclass="my_custom_class"] OOH, HIDDEN TEXT! YEAH BABY YEAH!<span class="collapseomatic my_custom_class" id="bot-post001"> « Read less</span>[/expand]

I would just use that code instead, but it keeps the expand title (“Read more”) visible even when the hidden text has already been expanded. Whereas I want it to disappear when the text is expanded (so people don’t click on it thinking there’s more to see when there isn’t).

What I’d REALLY love – even more than my beloved ice-cream bar – would be to COMBINE the forces of these two excellent methods, so I get all the great styling of the Fast Monkey roll-your-own example PLUS the trigger position of the [expand] shortcode. Is there a way? (A shortcode way would be nice if it’s a possibilty, as I’m using this within posts so I’ll be typing it manually each time… but I’m not fussy! Any solution at all would be met with cheers from the audience, and a round of applause).

In fact – getting ridiculously greedy – I’d also love to be able to fiddle with the target text position so if I wanted I could actually put the trigger in the middle of a sentence and when clicked, have the rest of the sentence just appear running straight on. Again any tips appreciated!

I’m happy to (try!) fiddling around with the code – I just have no idea where to look or what needs to be fiddled with!

Thanks so much again for a great plugin!!

Wow, a lot going on in your post! One of the take-a-ways I took-a-way was this:

    What I want is…
    normal text dum de dum[expand title="Read more »" id="post001" trigclass="my_custom_class"] OOH, HIDDEN TEXT! YEAH BABY YEAH!<span class="collapseomatic my_custom_class" id="bot-post001"> « Read less</span>[/expand]
..but it keeps the expand title (“Read more”) visible even when the hidden text has already been expanded.

It seems that you are looking for the swaptitle attribute, like so:

normal text dum de dum[expand title="Read more »" id="post001" trigclass="my_custom_class" swaptitle="« Read less"] OOH, HIDDEN TEXT! YEAH BABY YEAH![/expand]

    Or did I miss something?
