I’ve installed the plugin and uploaded two identical images, once with quality set to 100 and once to 90. This shows that the plugin is functioning, but not to the extent that I hoped:

    • The image files that wordpress generates are reduced in size, no problem.
    • However the original image that is uploaded is not changed, as I had hoped it would be. This means that contributors to the site who upload 3mb digital photos continue to use up limited hosting space. Plus when visitors click on these files the image that is shown (through Fancybox) is still the full-size file that can take quite a while to load.

Is this the expected function of the plugin or is something not working on my installation?

PS. Yes, I know that contributors could/should resize images themselves, but this is about supporting people with different levels of technical ability/confidence.
