  • It would appear not. It seems the developer got himself a job at Automattic and lost interest in his plugin. Shame, too, because he had a decent roadmap that he’s now more than a year behind on.

This would explain why I can’t get any answers to the problem i am finding with my Jobs Manager installation. You’re so right, it’s such a shame because this plugin has huge potential.

Would you happen to know of any other plugin of similar function by any chance?

    Cheers.

I actually got so tired of waiting for this guy to get his interest back that I paid another developer to build one. I’m working on a site right now that will use it. If you’re interested, I’ll let you know when I have something to show.

ya, this is easily the best job manager plugin, it just needed to be actively worked on. Their is a decent amount of bugs that have cropped up.

    There is a paid solution:

    http://wpjobboard.net/

    Has anybody tried it?

I did, a while back. It was really focused on building a pay-for-listing type of site – which is not what my clients were looking for – and IIRC, there wasn’t a good way to shut that stuff off. Job Manager didn’t have that focus, but there were some serious problems that I haven’t been able to overcome. One of the biggest is that Gary didn’t allow for pagination on the back end. At one point my client had over 2,000 applicants in the database and the application listing in the admin area was trying to pull and display all of them at once. Completely ridiculous. The entire thing slows to a crawl. I finally had to wipe out all of the Job Manager-related data in order to clean it up. Not the easiest thing to do when he has all of the data saved into the posts table. No idea why he didn’t give his plugin its own table for storing that stuff.

Thank you mediacellar for your opinion.

Anybody does a good plugin for replacing Job Manager?

I am still trying to source a good alternative to Job Manager, but unfortunately not found one as yet.

@mediacellar do you happen to know why the link to the individual job template is not working? It should direct the user to a page dedicated to that particular job, but for me it just comes up blank.

e.g. I have a list of jobs on the main job board each with its individual link that should direct users to a full description. But the link directs to an empty page.

If you (or anyone) have any idea as to how i might be able to fix this, i would be very grateful, because unfortunately i do not have the budget to pay for a premium plugin for my job board.

    Many thanks in advance.

@robolist – have you tried deactivating your plugins to see if its a plugin conflict?

@robolist – I haven’t seen that issue. I’d look for a plugin conflict as well.

@robolist – I replyed to your blank page question by creating another thread as its a different topic than this thread.

What will happen to my other projects?

PonyEdit development is continuing strongly. We’re working on a bunch of serious performance improvements, expect to see it out soon.
Job Manager is slowly waking up from the long winter of bug-fix releases only. With a little luck, I’ll be able to start making some serious inroads on the next feature release.
I also have some ideas I want to play around with, and now sounds like a good time to see what works. Stayed tuned.

Please Gary, don’t forget about Job Manager…. you have worked a lot on it, don’t let it die.

Hi guys, thanks for responding to my message. No i have not yet tried to deactivate all my other plugins, but thank you for the suggestion. I will give that a go and see what happens. I will let you know if its is a success or not. 🙂

    Cheers
    Robin

Please keep up the good work and continue the development of this wonderful plugin.
There are ton of requests in your roadmap, from which certainly most urgent:

    1. search integration
    2. hierarchical categories (subcategories)
    3. API

    Thank you
