[resolved] wp.me shortlinks in the Sharing feature of the plugin? (4 posts)

I'd like to provide my client with the option to include shortened URLs when using the Sharing buttons to share on Twitter.

    How can I include this?

    I found this article: http://skipsloan.com/wordpress-wp-me-shortlinks-in-tweets-using-jetpack-1-5/

However, the steps no longer work in 1.7, except for if you use the Official buttons. What if my client decides to switch them to a different style at some point? Also, if I modify the .php file directly, it will be overwritten when my client updates Jetpack at some point after I deliver the site.

Is it possible to request implementation of this feature? It seems logical, especially since Jetpack touts that the wp.me shortlinks are now included to "make sharing easier".

    Thank you for your assistance.

You can use jetpack extras for this: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/jetpack-extras/

The WP.me links are suited to be easy to remember links.
So hitting a button to share something doesn't matter what link is used. Since all the text is pre filled.

Like for example on twitter t.co links are expanded in clients, so most people don't see t.co anyway.
