[Resolved] [Plugin: Jetpack by WordPress.com] Upgrade wiped out all my blog categories

  • Be aware that when I upgraded to the latest version of Jetpack all my blog categories got wiped and the psot was reset to uncategorized.

    This happen an 4 of my sites and happened when I upgraded to Jetpack

    You may want to ensure you hafve a FULL backup before upgrading. I’m not sure if it’s a confilct with another plugin or not. But i’m now having to re-establish all my categories and re-assigning all my blog posts. Not what i had planned for a Sunday really.

  • I can not readd the categories because it is telling be the name is already in the database but it’s not showing in the category manager.

    Looks like I’m goiing to have to redo the database to get things working again.

    Jetpack should not be causing this – have you discovered if it is a plugin conflict or other info?

    I’m not sure quite what happened but I think there may have been a coincidence between updating jetpack and an automotic update of my plesk server management.

    All the info was still in the database but not being delivered to the web pages. I did a bit of hunting around and it looked like one of the communication resources in plesk had been stopped. I restarted it and everything ran ok again.

    I can only assume when the plesk did an update it coincided with my web site plugin updates and plesk did not restart properly.

    That’s all I can come up with as an explaination.
