Is it possible to only send a link including the Post Title (no post content) in the subscription emails. It seems odd to send out the whole post content, it leaves no incentive for people to return to the site.

If this is not currently possible could it please be considered as a future feature request.

    Thanks!

I too would like to see only short excerpts or a link sent out with the notification. As it stands, the way subscriptions work only makes it easier for people to view my content without visiting my site. As a web site owner, why would I want to do that?

Ya, I’ve been looking around for a way to fix this as well. It seems very illogical that a notification sends an entire post. I’d really like it to either send just a notification or perhaps a summary.

I’ve been told that limiting the RSS feed to “summary” also limits the notification – but I don’t want to do that to people who have subscribed to the blog via RSS.

    hello
I do limit the rss feed and it doesn’t change anything, jetpack subscribers receive the whole post (text and pics) in their email box …
    That’s
    so weird!

We are working on updates to only send excerpts, though there is not a concrete date for when this update will be released. Check in with our news site for updates.

    I am brand-new to wordpress.

I am also very disappointed to find out that, after all my hard work in figuring out how to make subscriptions work properly, it just sends the whole text in email. Seriously, I nearly cried.

It should send just the title, or an excerpt of no more than 2-3 sentences. It should do this by default.

I think it is awful that you thought this full-text thing was a good idea in the first place.

I am glad to hear you are working on this issue already, and I hope you do it as quickly as possible.

I have been using the “More Tag” which is on the WYSIWYG editor (Alt+Shift+T) which seems to be working for me. Just insert where you want the post to end. On my editor the icon is just to the right of the HyperLink icons.

Thank you for the tip, Jim! I will try that on my next post!

You get awesome points for the suggestion, and double if it works 🙂
