We installed the plugin and we got our web site down for 3 hours because of high CPU ussage. We usually consume about 3% of CPU during high traffic times of the day. With the Jetpack installed, we reached 20%, so our hosting shutted down our server. We quickly uninstalled Jetpack and everything was back to normal again.

I’m so upset that you force me to change Stats which functions perfectly, with that anoying blue message… to this piece of crap that has so many functions I don’t really need. They should be different plugins not an All-in-one installation.

  • Totally, absolutely AGREE with this post!! ShareDaddy, LaTex, Deadline, GravatarHover, FOR WHAT?? We are not early teenagers that need so much fancy features and functions, we are quite serious WP user.

At the end, Jetpack was not the one causing the error, it was a damned WP-Minify bug. We just noticed it after several hours of false attempts and tests. For some, reason, when Jetpack was activated at the same time when WP-Minify was generating errors, the CPU went up like crazy. I wrote about it on this thread. Conclusion: Jetpack works well.

But, I agree with jcglobalcitizen: It would be nice a simplified plugin with not so much functions as Jetpack.

    Hello ChowKaiDeng,

It’s not WP Minify, since I never used WP-Minify. But in your case probably so. It’s pure Jetpack’s problem. I deleted Jetpack and switched to Jetpack Lite which much-much faster and lighter than the full version.

Moreover, I use PHP Speedy instead of WP Super Cache and W3 Total Cache. Both Cache system in one to another way is heavily loading the CPU processing time. I strongly recommend PHP Speedy

It’s not in WP plugins repository, it’s independent. It works wonderful, increases significantly the loading page. You can check the performance objectively using YSlow and/or Page Speed (Firefox or Chrome plugins). Minifying PHP works better than any caching system, or minifying JS and CSS.
