[Plugin: Jetpack by WordPress.com] Beter Way to Control Feedback Spam, SUGGESTIONS/HELP NEEDED

  • I activated the contact module when it first launched, as it’s a great tool. But I never realized the amount of spam we received. Good thing is 99.9% was caught, bad thing is it’s caused the post table to be so crazy bloated. I have two suggestions. First CAPTCHA needs to be an option to the feedback form, is there some way to do this now with another plugin? And no I don’t want a different contact form plugin, I’d rather have a separate Captcha plugin that works with Jetpack.
And two there needs to be the option to trash all spam. Right now I have to move 20 at a time to the trash then dump the trash. ANd I have 4,000+ spam feedbacks.

  • Yes, I noticed the same problem a few days ago.

I found 6k spam messages stored in the feedbacks section. even deleting 300 at a time overloads my vps 9 server.

After that, I can’t even use the “empty trash” option because there’s thousands in the trash and it overloads my server without completing the task.

I wish I knew how to delete this with phpmyadmin.

The storage of spam in Feedbacks is the worst thing I’ve ever seen.

I can’t honestly delete more than 30 at a time without crashing my site. by the time I’ve deleted a thousand, 100 more new spams have came in.

I really wish deactivating this stupid contact form would clear all of the stored feedback spam.
