We would very much like to use this plugin – but everytime we activate it, the site crashes with a server error. Apparently the error is due to corrupt files, which goes away when we delete the install completely. We are running WP 4.4.2 and attempting to use the newest (week old) version of the Connections Business Directory. Any insight/help would be great.

    Two thoughts come to mind…

First, check your PHP error log. This could give an insight on what errors are occurring. If you do not know where this file is, you’ll have to ask your webhost. I can not tell you where this file is because every host configures this differently.

Second, it could be that the memory allocated to PHP is being exhausted. I suggest trying to increase this assignment. Here’s an excellent post on how to do this. Which method that will work depends on your webhost so I suggest starting at the top and working your way down the list.

Hope that helps, let me know.

Sorry, I posted a new string for this forgetting that I had already started this! So we did as suggested, the PHP memory has been increased and still running into the same problem.

    This is the error:
    20160216T021143:
PHP Warning: Missing argument 1 for __(), called in /hermes/walnaweb13a/b797/as.len1/newwebsite/wp-content/themes/onetone Child/footer.php on line 48 and defined in /hermes/walnaweb13a/b797/as.len1/leadingedgenetwork/wp-includes/l10n.php on line 171

    Looking forward to hearing back:)

Hmmm, that error is related to the theme incorrectly using the core wordPress function used for translation. But that would not cause the site to crash since it only generates a PHP notice.

What PHP version is the server running?

What WordPRess version are you running?

What value did you set the memory to? Are you certain it took effect? Settings the value does not actually mean it took effect because the webhost can set “hard” limits.

Hi there – and thanks for helping me out with this:)

I noticed that a plugin Mojo Marketplace was creating errors, so I disabled that plugin and tried again (I think this was related to the error that I first sent to you)

But activating the Connections plugin caused the same server error – here is exactly how it reads: Fatal error: Call to a member function get() on a non-object in /hermes/walnaweb13a/b797/as.len1/leadingedgenetwork/wp-includes/query.php on line 28

We are using PHP 5.5 and running WordPress 4.4.2 using the Onetone theme. The memory was reset to 128m by our hosting provider directly, so thinking that should be ok?….

    Looking forward to hearing back,

One hundred to one the cause is a bug within the theme. For the details, please see this FAQ:
