I install the plugin at seems it works fine as I can activate it on the plugins page. The problems appears when I want to find the settings page so I can fiddle with it. It is nowhere to be found, the items are not added to my menu at the left side of my admin-content.

This happens with other plugins too, by the way. I hope someone has a solution – it’s like switch has been changed to avoid making my admin profile having access.

    No WP Role-secondary plugin installed.

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

This is likely related to the capabilities, which have to be restored.
For that, please try the instructions in this post: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/troubles-with-tablepress-rights?replies=4#post-5585107

    Regards,
    Tobias

As you can see in the thread you linked me to, that did not helped me. As said, this happens to other plugins for me as well.

    Hi,

ok, that’s strange. If this is happening with other plugins as well, I can only imagine that something is broken oder interfering with all those plugins here.
Does this also happen when you deactivate all plugins except TablePress?

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Yes.

    Hi,

ok… If possible, I’d like to take a direct look at this on your site. Could you therefore please create a temporary admin account for me and send me the details via email (the address is in the main plugin file “tablepress.php”)? That way, I can investigate this directly. Thanks!

    Regards,
    Tobias

En email should be on its way. 🙂

    Hi,

I have received your email, but the credentials are not working 🙁 I only get an error message. Can you maybe check them and resend them?

    Regards,
    Tobias

I realised I was too nervous granting access like that. I can forward snippets of code.

    Hi,

    no worries, I totally understand!
Unfortunately, this means that I won’t really be able to investigate this, as spotting conflicts in code without being able to run debug commands is virtually impossible for an issue like this 🙁
(If it makes you feel more comfortable, I have investigated other issues using a temporary admin accounts many times before (see other threads here in the forums), and given the reputation that I’m risking each time, I’d be stupid if I did anything bad on a site.)

    Regards,
    Tobias

If you add a settings link via the plugin page, this could be a workaround. At the moment, I am waiting for another similar plugin to be updated.

I’ll reconsider this with the admin login if needed – but thank you for your time so far! 🙂

    Hi,

there is a link to the TablePress screens on the “Plugins” page, actually.
If you don’t see that, that’s another indicator that something with the capabilities is broken on your site. As capabilities play a big role in creating menu entries, that would explain why other plugins are also not visibile there.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Here’s what shows on the plugins page for me.

No screens option. The other plugin I tried to install was out of date, but now when I tried an updated one, it added as intended. No clue whats happening for TablePress.

    Hi,

yes, the link is definitely missing there. That confirms that there’s something odd going on with the capabilities on your site.
If the instructions to reset them from http://wordpress.org/support/topic/troubles-with-tablepress-rights?replies=4#post-5585107 really don’t work, can you maybe try to add them manually with a plugin like Members (https://wordpress.org/plugins/members/ )?

    Regards,
    Tobias

I know why that do not work. When I click save, it doesn’t really save, or it changes back to 24, because when I find it after saving, it still says 24. Is the comma on purpose?

    {"plugin_options_db_version":24,"table_scheme_db_version":3,"prev_tablepress_version":"1.4","tablepress_version":"1.4","first_activation":1404437447,"message_plugin_update":true,"message_plugin_update_content":"","message_donation_nag":true,"use_custom_css":true,"use_custom_css_file":true,"custom_css":"","custom_css_minified":"","custom_css_version":0}

    Hi,

no, that’s on purpose actually. Setting the value to 0 and saving will reset some things in TablePress internally, and at the end of that re-initialization routine, the version is set to the current value of 24 again.
The comma is also correct, that separates the entry from the next one (it’s JSON code).

Just to be sure: The user that you use is a regular “Administrator” user? Can you then maybe check with a plugin like Members if the capabilities are applied?

    Regards,
    Tobias
