 * I’m trying to reinstall plugins that I have previously used. Anytime I have a
   plugin to install it states:
 * “Could not create directory.
    Plugin installation failed.”
 * Not sure what to do next. Please advise.

 * Hi,
 * Please check what are the permissions set for these folders
 * wp-content
    wp-content/plugins
 * If permissions are changed not correct then certainly it will not allow to add
   any new thing there.
 * Thanks

 * Permissions AND ownership!
 * Directories should be 755, files 644. Ownership should be the same for wp-content,
   wp-content/uploads, wp-content/plugins, etc.
 * Note that if you are re-installing *and the plugin’s directory already exists*,
   the installation will fail. You can work around this with this plugin: [https://wordpress.org/plugins/baw-force-plugin-updates/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/baw-force-plugin-updates/)
   or you can delete the plugin’s directory via FTP or your hosting control panel’s
   file manager, then install as usual. The plugin’s settings, being in the database,
   will be retained.

 * Where and How do I check the permissions set for these folders? Through the FTP?

 * Yes, you can see them via FTP if you use an app like Filezilla, or contact your
   host for assistance.
