    Every attachment is already stored in posts table, so they are posts with authors. BUT they post_type set to attachment so they are not showed in article lists because by default se searches for post_type to be post. So you can create function to rewrite/updates post_tpe to post or better is to write your own code to append to query so it will include attachments in results.

    How to do that-well search..bit by bit and you will build what you want.
