Yes – The code that is specific to Gravity Forms only gets executed based on hooks / filters which would not exist if you do not have GF installed.

The plugin does a couple of important things based on GF which you would have to replicate with whatever other form / plugin you would use:

    • Pre-populate the drop-downs based on the taxonomy entries of the custom post type
    • Validate entries upon submission prior to creating the rideshare
    • Transfer results from form to the custom post type upon successful validation

    Hi

Why I have to install Gravity Forms and Custom Post Type? How it works together: idealien Rideshare + Gravity Forms and Custom Post Type? I wanna
create web site for carpooling and the question is – can the user of this web-site (who try to find a driver) find it without my admin work, I mean can they just open site, fill out the form and then – see table with all drivers in this data – all of it without my admin work?

    Thanks for your help

Yes John – What you are asking is exactly what GF + CPT plugins are for. They provide the front-end ability to submit rideshare offers / requests so that users do not need to access your admin interface.

    Hi, thank you for answer.

I understand It. I mean when drivers publish their offers – requests automatically appear in the database? How does a user who wants to find the driver will look for drivers? How is it possible to search for drivers? How does it look? Will supply and demand take place automatically, without the site administrator?

    Thank you for your answer

    Hi John,

Yes – Drivers offers are published and the admin does not have to do anything. The best way to co-ordinate rides is through email which is listed.

There are some features started to do response by form and buddyPress notification but they aren’t fully operational yet.

The best thing you can do is read the documentation and try the plugin on a test site to see what you think of it.

    Thank you

    And what about search?

How can users search for drivers? How to form the search fields for a specific date and direction?
