    Same problem here:
using wp 3.3.1 + Hyper cache extended 0.9.8 together with PHP Version 5.2.10 .
Cache folder created manually, set to 777. wp-content was set to 777 before installation and activation.
No files being created – only one file _test.dat that was there from the beginning.
It’s getting a bit hopeless. Disabled the standard WP cache because not compatible with ‘download codes’ plugin; switched to Hyper cache first – but it’s not getting any updates anymore… I hope I’ll get it working this time.
