thanks for this plugin, seems to finally be the rss plugin i was looking for.

One question though (i know nothing of shortcodes and the rest). To test it I have put the shortcode of your rss [hungryfeed url="http://verysimple.com/feed/"] in a sidebar in the text widget. Works fine, but the links open in the same window.

What do i have to add to make the links in widget open in a new window?

And how do i limit the number of posts and the lenght of the excerpt?

Sorry, i am no programmer ;-)

    Kind regards, Viktor

I would suggest creating a dummy post in your blog and then use the HungryFEED "wizard" button in the editor to design your shortcodes. (The button is up where the bold, italic, etc buttons are - it is blue with the hungryfeed monster) That will generate the code for you and you can then copy/paste into the sidebar. That way you can more easily explore all of the options without having to write the shortcode.

but, if you do want to edit by hand, here is a shortcode with the parameters that you could use as an example:

    [hungryfeed url="..." target="_blank" max_items="5" truncate_description="200"]

Thank you for the fast and clearly described help. For me as a "i-know-nothing-about-shortcodes" person that was very good.

Doing it with the wizard an then copyiing that into the text widget works perfect including opening the links in a new window.

a news widget called "Poly news provided by Alan of Polyinthemedia" which can be seen in the right hand column on my home page and on several sub pages on: http://viktor-leberecht.com and the original german website http://viktor-leberecht.de

the same feed integrated into a page:
    and the german website

    Thank you so much.
