Great Plug-In! Faster Audio Loading / Response Time? (6 posts)

Searched a long time to find good sound embedding code that works in older browsers (not using HTML5, or flash). Is there any way to get a faster response time when hovering? (eg: like image pre-loading)

The documentation says that the sound is loaded when page is loaded by default, and even when setting "autostart" to "true", there is still a noticeable delay when hovering (~1sec).

Would you please inform me about your OS and browser versions, the specs of your PC?

Thank you for the reply (どうもです。) I'm using Mac OS 10.5.8 (Safari 5.0.6) with WordPress 3.2.1

My target is the Japanese customer, thus most tend to be using older browsers (Windows XP seems to be pretty mainstay -- about 50% of hits, with IE 8.0 also being about 40-50%).

Any help is greatly appreciated. よろしくお願いします。

Do the following demos work well in your browser?

These are demos of soundmanager2, which my plugin relies on.

very good work, is just what I was looking for, but unfortunately it's not running in my blog.. maybe I'm doing something, I'm almost new in wordpress.

    I'm using Mac OS X 10.7.5 with wordpress 3.4

I uploaded a mp3 file and a png image and copied and pasted your codes with the ID and url of this files but after nothing happens, the sound doesn't arrive.. please any advice?

after I pasted the code with simple letters and shame result:

    <span id="”hr2”">ABC</span>
    [hoversound id=”hr2” url=”http://adolfocarrasco.com/wp-content/uploads/__.mp3”]

I can only see ABC but no effect hoverpointing, Is maybe the version of wordpress?
    thanks a lot

I'm achieving the same effect using the plugin "Tippy", it works with audio too.
It's a mouseover/hover tooltips-plugin. For hiding the audio-player (whichever it is), you just place it somewhere outside the visible screen, by tweaking the css. Have a look at their support here.

    Hope it helps
