Our webhost has informed us that the Spotlight – Social Media Feed plugin displaying our feed in the website footer was using heaps of memory to the point it was crashing in writing out lots of records to the wp_post_meta table. The table currently sits at 2,468,690 records from the plugin. They have disabled it and have asked us to contact you to determine why and also to see if you could suggest a way we can clean up that DB table. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey @kleymc, how long have you been running Spotlight on this website and which version are you running right now?

We did have an issue in the past that caused some duplicate posts to be stored in the database but that has since been fixed. If you’re running the latest version and this is still happening, you may use the built-in Dev Tools to do a Complete Reset.

This will keep your connected accounts and feeds (keep both boxes checked), but it will clear the database of all imported posts and generated thumbnails. You’ll then be able to re-import them using the “Update posts” action from the Feeds list.

If you’re not comfortable doing this yourself, you may ask your hosting provider to perform the task or you may contact us directly and we’ll help you out with it ourselves.

Thanks Mark. We’ve had the plugin running since June this year. It was Version 0.9.5 when the host disabled it.

We’ll update it and then use the Dev Tools to clean the db records.

    Thanks for your help. Cheers

Great, thanks for the update, @kleymc.

If you’ve enjoyed using Spotlight so far and are happy with our support, we’d really appreciate a quick review. The team would love to reach the 100 mark by the end of the year 🙂
