plugin, hack, or template for creating additional output file (2 posts)

I'm using WP to manage a news/press section of a website, and have some static pages that I'd prefer not to try and build back into WP. BUT: I'd like to include the last 5 headlines (+/- excerpt and date) from the WP news blog in some of my static pages.

SO: basically, I'd like to be able to output a separate php file with a very small WP template, and then be able to php_include /php_require it into whatever other files I'd like.

Has anyone done this, seen a plugin to do such a thing, or have a brilliant solution for doing such a thing?

You have several solutions for that (as described many times in this forum).
    1. Provided your "static" files are .php files - you can use in them a customized Loop
    2. Use your own RSS feeds and a feedreader
    3. Use a _recent_posts plugin
