If a visitor to my site clicks on a link, but does not have the appropriate group membership, I wish to redirect them to a “Benefits of Membership” type page. Or something to that effect. Currently it goes to a 404 error.

    Any ideas?

I am using Groups, Groups WooCommerce, WooCommerce, Canvas, and WooSlider.

  • Yes – A bit rubbish that you cannot direct a user somewhere instead of a 404 – Is anything being done about this ?

I am sitting here right now with the exact same problem. I want a link to a free product as a giveaway promotion to incent a sign-up/join but there is no way to direct the respondent to a group-based sign-up page or the (access-controlled) product, where a “Register to see this page” page should deploy. This is a good idea but execution seems humbug. I will NOT invest time and $ in this whole thing w/o author even replying to this.

Knowledge is power. RFC2616 provides that:

    403 Forbidden

If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 404 (Not Found) can be used instead.

    404 Not Found

I’d also like an option where you can set up a page to redirect to instead of a 404 or 403

For anyone looking for a way to redirect, I’ve just released this plugin:
