    Thanks bradvin, I resolved by changing

    'media_buttons' => false,

    to

    'media_buttons' => true,

    at line 117 in file gf_wysiwyg_class.php (and by adding some css styling).

    the problem with that is the media upload appears in the current post not int he form in the post!!

    I did not want to enable the media buttons by default, but you can turn it on now simply by adding a class name of “media_buttons” to the wysiwyg field
