You’re missing that GPL does not mean zero cost.

Gravity Forms is GPL’ed. That does not prevent the author from putting the code (the plugin) behind a pay wall; GPL’ed means free like free speech not free beer. The support is not free and that is what you are buying.

That second plugin? That’s also GPL’ed but hosted in the WordPress plugin repo.

Like @jan wrote, Gravity Forms is a paid plugin (you can buy here and get 20% off with coupon SEODENVER), but it’s also GPL. That means technically if you buy the plugin you can legally share it for free with your friends. That is, however, not the ethical thing to do: the developers have spent thousands of hours making Gravity Forms the best WordPress form plugin out there; it’s such a good plugin that it’s worth buying.

Also, when you buy the plugin, you buy really good support on GravityHelp.com, which you need a license for. If you get or share the plugin for free, you or the people you share with won’t get support.

My plugin (Gravity Forms Directory & Addons) is, as its name implies, an add-on to the Gravity Forms plugin. My plugin is free, but Gravity Forms is not.
