• Can someone tell me how to correct this OR do I even need to correct this?

My sitemap generated with the plugin is this:

    http://bestpickinsurance.com/sitemap.xml

But, as you can see, all the pages listed in the sitemap start with WWW even though the sitemap URL is WITHOUT the WWW.

This sitemap URL, that I really want is :

    http://www.bestpickinsurance.com/sitemap.xml

    BUT,

That produces a weird convoluted sitemap, as you can see.

Does this really matter with google or the other search engines bots? or should I change?

  • The sitemap plugin uses your blog settings. Make sure that you’ve entered the right URL in the WordPress General Settings page.

Well Is there a “right” or “wrong” Url?

When I created the WP blog, the URL without the WWW was there by default, then I changed it to the WWW url. And I guess that Screwed up the plugin’s generation of the sitemap.

I would like to change the sitemap Url to match the URL of the pages, but when I do, (ie. change the WP settings to the WWW url), it creates this sitemap that is NOT valid.

    http://www.bestpickinsurance.com/sitemap.xml

How do I make it create a valid sitemap?

Did you rebuild the sitemap after you’ve changed the WordPress settings?

There is no right or wrong URL, but you should decide which domain u want to use (either with or without WWW) and should redirect all traffic from one domain to the other.
