Using the XML-Sitemap plugin (3.2.4) – generating both a sitemap.xml and sitemap.xml.gz
7 days ago I started receiving 404 errors from Webmaster Tools on dailyheal.com (not http://www.dailyheal.com)
On Webmaster Tools, when I look at the URLs with 404 errors I notice that the permalink is missing the category. When I look at the “Link Detected From” screen it says from sitemap.xml.gz
In guessing that something was wrong with the sitemap I rebuilt it (based on this UNRESOLVED WordPress topic: http://tinyurl.com/4qgcrqd) but am still have the same problem
None of the 404 error URLs were ever posted w/out the category so I’m not sure where the sitemap is getting that information from (and I’ve done a search for some of the 404 error URLs on Google and they are nowhere on the web). I looked at the sitemap.xml file and all is in order (permalinks include categories). I have not touched the robots.txt file
Any suggestions would be appreciated as the 404 errors are increasing by the day (and I don’t think a long term solution is adding a redirection to all the 404 error URLs)
