    I added the sitemap files to the wordpress dir and directed and still get the following errors.

    There was a problem writing your sitemap file. Make sure the file exists and is writable. Learn more

    There was a problem writing your zipped sitemap file. Make sure the file exists and is writable.

    Is there a way handle this?

    Shirley,

    I had this problem today actually and found a solution. This might not work for you though. On the plugin home page, in the FAQ section, you will find a note about the plugin not being able to be written too.

    You should be able to fix this by creating a new file (open notepad and save file as sitemap.xml, and another as sitemap.xml.gz) and then upload to your root folder using an FTP program. Once they are uploaded to the root directly, change the file permissions to either 755 or 777 as suggested by the site.

    This should work.
