• I was happily using the google analytics plugin with wordpress 2.6 and podpress 8.8.

Having updated to wordpress 2.7 I can no longer launch a podpress pop-up player window for mp3’s in podpress from one of my wordpress pages.

If I disable the google analytics plugin the podpress pop-up player link now works.

I’ve tested this on two seperate blogs on 2.7 so this appears to be definite issue.

    Can anyone help please?

  • Does PodPress create javascript links?

I’m not 100% sure, but I’d say Javascript is probably the most likely way podpress achieves the popup for the player.

    Any podpress experts confirm this?

If it is Javascript – why wouldn’t this work with Google Analytics?

What’s confusing is it all worked fine in 2.6.

Might have to do with how the link is generated in both the plugins. Do you have a URL where I can see the issue?

The sites are in development at the moment so aren’t open to the public. I could set you up a login though if you give me your email address Joost?

But generically speaking, looking at the way podpress creates URL’s for the popup player they use this format:

    http://domain.com/blog/?p=38#

Obviously the above URL depends on how you setup your permalinks, but basically podpress appends a # – which doesn’t appear to give much away!

I can’t imagine I’m the only one suffering from this – using podpress, google analytics and wordpress 2.7.

    Thanks

did u figure this out? i have encountered the same issue running wordpress 2.7 using the google analytics plugin and using the pop out mp3 player (pupu player)

when i turn off the plugin, it works, when the plugin is activated, it does not pop out… a javascript conflict but i dont know how to fix it

Billy, I suspect it’s a javascript conflict then as I’m 99% sure Podpress uses javascript for its popup player too.

My solution was to stop using this google analytics plugin and use the other one called Google Analyticator. This works fine with podpress.

+1 Same problem with the latest GAP and podpress 7.6, GAP broke the “pop-up player” (in french “Lire en Popup”).

    Thanks for your help.

    Double post sorry 🙁

same problem with wp 2.5.1 and the latest edition of podress and GAP. I have no idea if joostdevalk is planning to address this, as i have posted a more recent topic with no response. May have to use another tracker as mentioned above.
