[Plugin: Google Analytics for WordPress] Feature Request : Site Speed Variable (4 posts)

    Please allow the setting of a site speed sampling variable as per

    "By default, a fixed 1% sampling of your site visitors make up the data pool from which the Site Speed metrics are derived. If you have a relatively small number of daily visitors to your site, such as 100,000 or fewer, you might want to adjust the sampling to a larger rate."

    Smaller sites need to set the sample rate higher than the default 1% to get accurate data. Please enable this variable to be customized by user in the plugin panel.

    Thank you!

    Actually, if you look in the Advanced Settings of Google Analytics for WordPress, there's a place that you can add a line of custom code — so putting this:

    _gaq.push(['_setSiteSpeedSampleRate', X]);

    where X is the sample rate you actually want should accomplish what you need until Yoast gets around to adding a built-in way to configure it.

    However, fair warning, there's a bug in the way the plugin currently handles the custom code text field, such that it will add spurious slashes to the line of code any time you click the "update analytics settings" button after the first time. That issue and a fix for it are documented here:

    If I add this... where does it actually turn up in Google Analytics? Is there some kind of speed tab I wasn't aware of?

    Sorry; hadn't noticed the question.

    In Google Analytics, Site Speed is listed under the Content reports.
