I logged into my admin page today and under plugins, Google Maps Easy is gone and if I try to reinstall it says, “Installation failed: Destination folder already exists.”

Any idea what happened or how to fix it? Will all my maps be gone? I do have backups but have never needed to use them…

    Thanks

    Hello,

Please, could you provide more detailed description.
If I understand correct – you don’t see Google Maps plugin in your admin area at all?
And if you try to reinstall (via Add plugin option?) it says the notice “Installation failed: Destination folder already exists.”?

    Am I right?

    Yes that’s it.

    Hi,

It could be a conflict with your other plugin or your theme.
Please try to deactivate all your plugins one by one and check the issue.
Thus you will find out which plugin causes the error.
If it won’t help, try to switch temporarily to a standard WordPress theme.

If you already have done backup of the database you can also:

    • delete the plugin folder on the server (via ftp),
    • remove the plugin tables from the database,
    • reinstall the plugin again,
    • restore the tables of plugin from database backup.

Afterwards let us know about the result.

    Best regards.

Thanks for checking in but, no I could never get it figured out. I figured I didn’t really have time to figure it out or sort it out from the back up or deal with it if it happened again, so I just switched to custom maps built directly in Google’s My Maps and have embedded them on my site as needed.

    Have a good one,

    Victoria
