Probably want to check with your host, but here’s a good article to help troubleshoot. https://kinsta.com/blog/err_too_many_redirects/

There are no redirects in the plugin.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

This might be a hosting issue but just to give more context, here is the test setup:

    WP 4.9.8
    Nginx 1.8.1
    PHP 7.2.10
Coming Soon Page & Maintenance Mode by SeedProd 5.0.20
    TwentySeventeen 1.7
No other plugin installed aside from Pantheon’s Must-Use
    Hosted in Pantheon

When the “Maintenance mode” is selected, that is the time that is throwing the error on 3 different browsers and machine even after clearing cache. Upon inspecting the PHP error log. This is what I get: PHP Recoverable fatal error: PHP Startup: Cannot set 'user' save handler by ini_set() or session_module_name() in Unknown on line 0

“Coming Soon mode” works as expected. Maybe for the meantime, it is best to recommend Pantheon users to use “Coming Soon mode”.

In maintenance mode the plugin sets a 503 header. Which is normal for maintenance mode.

The service might be having a problem with that. Have you reached out to patterns support?

It seems the header Status: 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable when the plugin is in Maintenance Mode renders a redirect loop in the Pantheon platform.

It is best to suggest users that are having similar issues to use “Coming Soon mode”.

They also suggest to use Pantheon’s own custom lock page in the platform.

Ok, that’s strange 503 is recommended by Google when your site is in Maintenance Mode.
