  • Site is http://vivateachers.org. In the “More from the Blog” section on the home page, we are featuring 3 different categories, each in their own widget.

The problem is that there will be some posts that have multiple categories applied and thus might appear in more than one of the widgets (i.e. they are categorized as both “Current Events & Policy News” and “Idea Exchange Updates”).

I tried using the Exclude Terms by ID setting and using the numerical ID of the other categories to eliminate duplication, but this doesn’t seem to work. I’m guessing it is a similar reason to the one given in this previous thread?

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

At this time there isn’t a way to exclude posts that have already been shown if they are in multiple categories.

Thanks, Nick. You mentioned “posts that have already been shown.”

Does that mean that the next new post that has both categories will not appear twice; that the excluded category setting on one of the Featured widgets will work?

No, I mean that there isn’t a way to do what you are asking right now. You can’t exclude posts from a category AND show posts from a specific category. WordPress won’t work like that.
